My TikTok lately has been nothing but people visiting Folderol, an ice cream parlor that’s been combined with a wine bar. Couple Jess Yang and Robert Compagnon opened the spot back in December 2020, and they serve a fantastic array of flavors like spicy watermelon, rhubarb sugar tart, sesame brownie, hibiscus nectarine, fig shortcake, and many more. And if you’re not craving something cold, then snag a glass of wine, drink on the street, and make some new friends.

I remember the one time I stayed at the Mercer in New York, and as I’m checking out, I see Courtney Love checking in. She wore a white blouse with a thin, black pencil skirt, I assume it was Chanel, it was very much that time. And after growing up with Nirvana and Hole and all that, it felt like such an iconic moment, because, she was, and will always be iconic. Financial Times interviewed her at her home in London, and I enjoyed every word of this delectable chat.

I came across Ett Hem, effectively a series of townhouses turned into a hotel, and immediately started to work out how I can take a trip to Stockholm this summer. The space was designed by Ilse Crawford, who does some of the most wonderful interiors in the world. As Stephen Whitlock remarked, “The whole concept of Ett Hem is that it’s a home, so it has a kitchen you can stroll into anytime … If you want lunch or dinner, the chef will whip something up for you from scratch.” A boy can dream…

I have been a long time admirer of Brooke DiDonato’s photography, this image and this image having been wallpapers on my computers for years. I love in her work how she explores the relationship between our bodies and the world around us, sometimes more literally, and oftentimes quite conceptually. She has uncanny mind that thinks far outside the box, and is somehow then able to capture those moments through photography.

In my opinion, food branding is the best kind of branding. Creating a visual representation of something you eat is so fun. The folks at Young Jerks have knocked it out of the park with their work for Mark’s Off Madison, a new restaurant from acclaimed Chef Mark Strausman, formerly of Freds at Barneys and Campagna restaurants. I like that the branding feels iconic and timeless, like an old classic you can rely upon. And it’s got that air of charm and whimsy! Being fun is important and this ticks off all the boxes.

There are few fashion brands doing more interesting marketing than Jacquemus. First their were the giant Bambino bags driving to the Opéra Garnier, now they’re showing up as a boat sailing across Lake Como. It’s surrealism at it’s finest. No people, no celebrities, no content creators, simply beautifully crafted vignettes that get you talking about Jacquemus. If you need more inspo, pop over to Simon Porte Jacquemus’ Instagram feed where he’s sharing what’s inspiring him currently.

I’m such a fan of Spencer Doran and the music he creates, both as one half of Visible Cloaks, and in his own solo recordings and mixes. He recently completed the soundtrack to the video game SEASON: A letter to the future, which looks stunning btw, though I haven’t had a chance to play it yet.
His compositions for the game are beautiful, creating this sublime atmosphere that work just as well when played in your living room or walking around your town. If you’re a fan of ambient music, Miyizaki films, or simply want something chill to listen to, you really can’t go wrong here. -
I know, you’re thinking “wow, that drinks looks delicious!” Jokes on you, it’s soap! Morrama and Two Time Elliott worked together on the branding for Kankan, a brand that makes hand and body wash. It’s great to see recyclable packaging take an interesting twist here, and overall, the design feels very contemporary without being clinical.

If you’re in New York you should check out this exhibit from Xiyadie called Queer Cut Utopias. Featuring more than thirty of Xiyadie’s intricate paper-cuts, dating from the early 1980s through today, each of which articulates his longing to fully express his queer desire. The gentleness of the cut paper with these dreamy colors is such a stunning combo. Shoutout to Dan Funderburgh for making me aware.

Being in Barcelona, it’s been interesting to see what a massive following Jaime Hayon has here, and all the incredible projects he’s created. Gestalten has released a beautiful monograph simply titled Jaime Hayon, collecting his work from the last few decades, from interior design, furniture, sculptures, you name it, he’s made it. This book has been hugely inspirational for me lately.

There’s this very modern idea that minimalism means empty white boxes. A lot of modern homes are these boring white and grey and marble rooms, lacking any charm or character. So when I saw this Paris apartment by Hugo Toro, I thought it was a perfect example of what minimalism should feel like, more akin to simplicity. Everything in the entire home is so thoughtfully curated, with only the finest of items and objects. This is peak luxury.

I love bagels so much and I really love this identity design for Mile End Bagels by U-P. It’s kind of giving me Scott Barry for Sqirl vibes from a few years back but that’s not a bad thing. It’s equal parts ordinary and funky, bridging the world’s of utilitarian while still communicating an eclectic nature.
