Last Week in LAist – 10/14 to 10/21

October 29, 2007 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Last Week in LAist

I only posted a couple of things over on LAist last week, this first being a review of the book, Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich. It’s a really cute book drawn by Adam Rex, and features a ton of the best monsters in funny situations. The book is made for 4 to 8 year olds, but I like it a lot, and I’m 25!

The other thing I posted about was the new Takashi Murakami Exhibit at the MOCA, which opens today. I’m so excited to see this! I think I’m going to try and go on Thursday because it’s free from 5 to 8!

Last Week in LAist – 10/14 to 10/21

October 22, 2007 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Last Week in LAist

Last week in LAist I had one amazing thing happen, my post about the Cereal Killers project was Dugg, throwing thousands of visitors at a post that I wrote. While sadly that doesn’t draw thousands of people here, it fulfills the reason why I’m the art and design editor now, haha…

I also posted about the Art Dump, and how their having a zine trade currently going, over at Diesel on Melrose Paul Pope has some brand new prints up for about a month, and about ZIPskinny, which let’s people find out info about the people who live in their neighborhood.

Last Week in LAist – 10/01 to 10/14

October 14, 2007 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Last Week in LAist

Alright, so this is actually the Last 2 Weeks in LAist because I was so busy putting together Radiohead wallpapers last weekend that I totally forgot to do this.

First up I posted a sick Travis Millard cover for the Steve Allen Theater brochure, with more of his drawings inside, some Halloween fonts to make your upcoming party invitation not suck, and a post about Google’s new GOOG-411 service.

One of the more exciting posts was a mini-interview I did with Souther Salazar about his upcoming show at GR2. it was really nice of him to take the time to answer my questions, even if they were a little goofy. I also took some preview photos of the Ben Templesmith art show at Secret Headquarters. I popped by the show and there were a ton of people in the shop, and everyone looked like they were having a good time.

And lastly, I posted a review of the Beirut show I went to on Thursday. The openers were sort of eh but Beirut was simply amazing, they play just as well live, which is incredible when you have 8 people on stage.

Last Week in LAist – 09/24 to 09/30

September 30, 2007 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Last Week in LAist

Last Week in LAist I posted a few cool things. I posted about a really great Flickr browser that makes it less of a headache, got sidetracked by the amazing art of Chase, and then posted a photo essay about the Swerve Festival, which is where the picture above was taken.

Last Week in LAist – 09/16 to 09/23

September 23, 2007 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Last Week in LAist

You may or may not know that I’m a contributor to the LA-centric blog, LAist. I’ve just recently started to blog more frequently, so I thought I’d let everyone who reads this blog what else I’ve been writing as well.

Last week I only wrote a few things. There was a post on the GEISAI show over at GR2, a look at the Swerve Festival and what it’s all about, and finally a preview of Wes Anderson’s newest, The Darjeeling Limited. Be sure to check out LAist often though, it has a ton of wonderful writers and there’s always something interesting going on over there!
