Peter Donnelly is an Irish illustrator who lives and works in Dublin. Strongly influenced by 1950’s modern design, his work is inventive, bright and cheerful. Frequently his images feature lively scenes, with each one bustling with interesting characters and lively action. There’s a great harmony to his compositions and I love the vibrant energy in his work.
Over the years Peter’s career has taken him to many intersting places; from art directing for film companies and television to teaching in colleges and workshops. He’s also illustrated kids books and curated exhibitions, and his portfolio is packed with examples of many interesting projects.
I particularly love this screenprint inspired by the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young song ‘Our House’ (above). The simple two color palette works really well and there’s a wonderful faux woodcut style to it that I love.
