For the month of October Banksy will be hitting the streets of New York, putting up a new piece every day as a part of an outdoor exhibition called Better Out Than In. He was perhaps inspired by the Cézanne quote adorned on his newly adorned site which reads, “All pictures painted inside, in the studio, will never be as good as those done outside.”
I’m curious to see how this will transpire as time goes by. Will the pieces all be equally as good? So far the two pieces made are… fine. They’re Banksy’s. I can’t say though that I’m particularly awestruck by them or that they’re even that clever, which is the true forté of his work. But with any gallery show there are bound to be a few lackluster pieces and perhaps we should reserve judgement till November 1?
