Antoni Gaudi’s Barcelona masterpiece Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família has been under construction since 1882, and it’s not slated to be done until 2026, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a sneak peek of what the completed church will look like when it’s finished.
Last week Sagrada Família and the architects responsible for finishing the incredible building released a pretty incredible video showing the remaining pieces that need to be completed and the depth of construction that still needs to take place. It’s phenomenal to watch as the layers of walls and ceilings keep piling in over one another. You can get a true sense of all the work and details that are going into this building, even though the video is from the view point of a helicopter flying around it.
I’d also recommend watching Liquid Stone – Unlocking Gaudi’s Secrets, a great documentary which goes into the ideas Gaudi had to create the church and how architects today are interpreting this vision to completion.
