‘Diplopia’ – A great collaboration from illustration team Never Ever Even

I was checking out the work of cartoonist and illustrator Eleanor Davis the other day when I discovered Never Ever Even, a collaboration project she started with artist Katherine Guillen. Described as an “Illustration and Design Superteam”, the duo have worked together on and off for the last few years. Together they have worked on a small but fruitful collection of projects, my favorite of which is a series of 8 gouache paintings called Diplopia.

‘Diplopia’ is the medical term for double-vision; a condition that allows for the simultaneous perception of two images of a single object. Presumably Eleanor and Katherine chose this name based on the collaborative nature of the work. The images themselves are beautiful. Filled with mystery, drama and uncertainty, they portray a dream-like world filled with scenes that feel surreal and almost biblical. I love them!

Both Eleanor and Katherine make great work individually too. If you’re not familiar with what they do you should definitely go check them out!
