When it comes to traveling to new cities it’s usually best to trust the friends who’ve visited or the people who’ve lived there. A traditional guide book can be helpful for some people, but people like you and me usually are interested in the non-touristy side of travel, wanting to experience the more authentic version of a city. Thankfully, TFIB writer Philip Kennedy has an answer for that, as he’s started a new series of travel guides titled Field Trips, with the first edition covering the city of Lisbon.
In 2013 I wrote and illustrated The Field Trips Guide to Lisbon. This publication was inspired by six months spent living in the Portuguese capital and it contains tips on getting around, advice on what to see and do, as well as information about the city’s food, history and landmarks. It’s a compendium of the things that I love about the city and a celebration of the things that make it great!
