‘Design with Heart’ is the title of this short film about the work of industrial designer Sebastian Bergne. Bergne lives and works in London where he’s been creating a number of products, lighting and furniture for over 20 years. Perhaps best known for creating objects for the preparation and consumption of food and drink, Bergne has collaborated on projects with the likes of Muji, Swarovski, Tefal and Vitra.
The video above was created as part of the ‘Design with heart’ exhibition which Bergne curated last month for the Biennale Design Saint Etienne. It’s a great introduction to the designer and his work and I particularly love both his Monthly Measure calender and ruler which can be seen at the start of the video, and his adaptable and sculptural table-lamp Curl (pictured below).
Bergne’s work is often smart and playful and it’s nice to hear him talk about his philosophy on consumerism and his thoughts on the objects we use everyday. Many of the designs featured in the video can be bought online through his webshop and more work can be seen online here.
