Icelandic artist and illustrator Lóa Hlín Hjálmtýsdóttir doesn’t seem to put a label on her multitude of creative outlets. As a Reykjavik-based visual artist, her work spans from illustration to comics and sculpture. On top of that, she’s also a member of the indie electro-pop group FM Belfast.
I love the idiosyncratic, humorous style of Lóa’s work. Both her intricate drawings and simple, minimalist images seem to come from a stylistically agnostic place, yet all feel at home together through that sense of humor and playfulness. It makes sense, then that FM Belfast has such a fun and playful sound.
