This curvy house is removed from the street, hiding behind other houses where two narrow alleyways meet in the historic Tokyo neighborhood of Yanka. The house was designed by o+h onishimaki+hyakudayuki architects and the video is narrated by a resident of the house, who explains the organization of the house as a light concrete core with a spiraling ramp that connects spaces to each other. The spiraling volume is enclosed, and the top of the volume is used as a series of exterior spaces that lead to a rooftop terrace. These two spirals, the enclosed and the exterior one, give the project it’s name: Double Helix House.
