Made by Hand - 'The Knife Maker' (video)

The team behind Made by Hand are back with a new video, this time featuring writer turned knife maker Joel Bukiewicz of Cut Brooklyn. It’s pretty neat to see the process it takes to make something that I think most of us take for granted. The fact that joel makes these by hands is really rad, yet again showing how people are trying to do things on their own again, and that people are supporting local artisans once more. Take the time and enjoy the video.

What an inspirational video! Truly Awesome.

There is such a resonance in creating things and he expresses it so clearly.

Now we just have to find that market and create the product.

Great share! He has some great quotes in there about the creative process and getting to a skill level to properly execute a creative process.

I love this. Not just because I’ll be venturing into knife making myself soon (for myself not for sale), but because I’m becoming more involved with the idea of tactility. I’ve grown into this overwhelming simplicity in life, anything is automatic and its scary. I want more control over what I have and do. No more fast food, or mass made wares, I want to scale back on depending on technology for everything and using my hands more.

I get scared that my (future) children won’t have skill sets. they won’t know how to use a saw or sew. I can’t let this happen, so it has to start with me.

Thank you for showing us this inspirational video.
