The BBC has come out with a new version of their old show BBC Knowledge, and based upon this promo video, I really want to see it. The spot was created by weareseventeen with the help of Mauro Rader and they’ve done a wonderful job of capturing the excitement of knowledge and learning. The animation is fast paced and the style is colorful and exciting. I also thought it was worth mentioning how rad the word Knowledge looked in that last frame, which you can see at the image at top. Part orbiting sun, part upside question mark, it’s a genius idea that’s executed perfectly.
Here’s what weareseventeen had to say about the spot:
We tried our best to avoid any swooping 3D camera moves and V-Ray Renders in these spots, and in doing so reminded ourselves just how much fun there is to be had in the land of 2D. OK so there is a little 3D in there but we really concentrated on fluid transitions and nicely illustrated elements.
While digging around I also came across this piece by Sean Pecknold that he created for BBC Knowledge, as well. I thought it was rather cool so I figured I’d paste it below as a bonus video.
