One of my favorites things to do is go out and have a nice meal at a new or favorite restaurant. I get so much comfort from good food and drinks, it helps me relax or let’s me unwind after a long week. That’s the vibe I get from this new video series called CPH Meal, which is documenting the food scene in Copenhagen. The idea was created between friends Aaron Bateman, Chris Calvert and Ben Greeno, who decided that they wanted to create their own supper club, working with local chefs to create delicious experiences. Here’s what Aaron had to say:
We work with a small network of chefs here in the city and we’ve built up a small but loyal following on Twitter and Facebook. From the start, social media has been a really important way of bringing people who follow the project closer to the stories that develop during the planning of the meals and then the events themselves. For Chris and I, a big part of why we started this project was the opportunity to learn more about the craft of amazing restaurants, what tools chefs use, where they get their ingredients, what inspires their dishes and so on. We try and pass on what we discover and give people more insight into that world.
The appeal from someone not in Copenhgaen are these beautifull produced videos, which are conceived and directed by Aaron and Chris and shot by Hannibal Lang Jensen. The way they document not only the process but the enjoyment of these meals is extremely fun to watch. You sincerely feel like you want to be there with these people, enjoying these amazing meals alongside them.
For their next video they’ll be filming one of their favorite chefs make bread, and they also plan to have another CPH Meal event some time in October, so if you’re around you should definitely try to get in on teh action.
