Today, the new Sammy Ofer Wing opens at the National Maritime Museum in London. Didn’t you hear about it? I hadn’t until I came across this video of a permanent installation inside the new wing. The installation Voyagers attempts to “illustrate the vibrancy, diversity and contemporary significance of maritime histories.” The installation was designed by The Light Surgeons and projects video footage and images from the archives of the museum onto 26 faceted panels and a sphere. The videos are metatagged, and waves of the keywords wash over the 20 meter-long surface, immersing visitors in a digital mere dedicated to the actual sea.
