Sometimes you just have to hit the stop button on the artsy and post something just absolutely fun, albeit it’s still got a ton of creative credibility. Back in 1987 the Beastie Boys released one of the ultimate party anthems, (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!), which ironically was meant to mock party anthems. Cut to 24 years later and the Beastie Boys are continuing where the video left off and turning it into a promotional short film for their upcoming album, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two.
The short is going to be crazy, there’s no other words for it. The Beastie Boys won’t be playing themselves, they’re being played by not one, but two sets of actors. There’s the young version played be Elijah Wood, Seth Rogen and Danny Mcbride, and then there’s the future version of the Beasties played by Jack Black, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. The cast doesn’t stop there, you’ve also got Danny McBride, Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Jack Black, Rainn Wilson, Rashida Jones, Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson, Steve Buscemi, Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, Chloë Sevigny, Will Arnett, Kirsten Dunst, Maya Rudolph, Martin Starr, Laura Dern, David Cross, Orlando Bloom and Zach Galifianakis. Phew.
I can’t wait for the album and the short film, I’m sure both will be great.
