I posted about Ryan Heshka’s artwork a few years ago but I was reacquainted with it recently so I thought I’d share it again. Ryan is a Vancouver based illustrator who draws in the influences of old pulp comics but is translated into a more contemporary vision. I love that his work is so light hearted and fun, like I imagine him sitting at his desk working, sitting there smiling the whole time and possibly making sounds like we did when we were kids.
The two above are a couple of my favorites because I love how they’re almost collage like, with the random piece of found paper they’re drawn on and the handwriting in the background that looks like it could belong to your grandmother or your little brother. Definitely check out the rest of his portfolio for lots more inspiring work.
