Fantastic ‘Uncle Boonmee’ Poster by Chris Ware

Uncle Boonmee Poster by Chris Ware

I’m a huge fan of Chris Ware so when I spotted this poster for the New York release of Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives I knew I had to post it. Uncle Boonmee is a Thai film about “the last days in the life of its title character. Together with his loved ones – including the ghost of his dead wife and his lost son who has returned in a non-human form – Boonmee explores his past lives as he contemplates the reasons for his illness.” I’d never heard of this film until yesterday but that’s how it’s described on Wikipedia. I guess a woman has sex with a trout, as well, so, there’s that too.

I love all the colors and details in the poster. I love the tiny trees on top of the shoulders of the creature and the fish in the reflection below. I really hope this film comes to Los Angeles so I can see the movie and this poster in real life.

Amazing meditation of a film. I saw it in London before christmas ad at least four people walked out. Not for everyone, but that’s usually a good thing…
