Spring Seas and Snow Houses: Art by Anna Emilia Laitinen

Artist and illustrator Anna Emilia Laitinen utilises her Finnish heritage and love of the natural landscape as the foundation for her imagery. Swirling waterscapes, falling leaves, sleeping wolves and igloos composed of patchwork squares feature heavily in her work, conjuring a mythical and enchanted space. Although I have never been to Finland (and I hope that I will rectify this wrong very soon), I would like to believe that Laitinen has lovingly transposed the elements of the country’s topography onto paper. With this thought in mind I am content to travel via her delicately detailed drawings until I can make it their myself.
