James Blake - Wilhelms Scream

First off I have to admit that I wasn’t that impressed with James Blake’s version of Feist’s Limit To Your Love, I thought it was kind of boring. Maybe I’m in the minority on that opinion but his newest single, Wilhelms Scream, I’ve definitely been enjoying. It’s more of the same downbeat, chilled out music with sexy vocals on the top, which I’m really liking. But what’s really selling this for me is the video directed by Alexander Brown. You probably are already familiar with his artwork, he’s the guy behind most of La Roux’s album covers and promo materials. The video is sexy, artsy and mysterious, everything that this songs represents. Be sure to put the video on full screen to soak in the full effect.

I didn’t like his Feist cover until I saw the video for it. I really dig the album now.

The live BBC Radio version of ‘The Wilhelm Scream’ is amazing as well.

I have had his website open for the past 48 hours, just listening to the two songs that play continuously. I love his site; how it integrates the music videos into the background and the overall simplicity of the navigation. I feel like everything fits together really well to tell a great story: his tunes, style, website, videos, album covers, etc.

I’m a little bummed he isn’t coming to SXSW as I would love to see him live.

Bobby, that’s crazy I had the complete opposite experience. I was immediately enthralled with his Feist cover and Wilhelms Scream. The entire album is incredible and has been on repeat!

“Kaputt” and “Zonoscope” have also been in the rotation. 2011 is sounding good!

I loved the video for “A Limit To Your Love” but I thought this one was terrible! My partner found this video of him doing “The Wilhelm Scream” live at the BBC.
    Take a listen:

    The Wilhelm Scream

This is fabulous! And his little smile at the end makes you go aaaaaahhhhhhhh
