Lucas Mongiello

Over the weekend I got an email from a fellow named Lucas Mongiello, a Parisian artist who’s paleolithic style sculptures caught my eye. He calls them Los niƱos tristes, or “sad children”, and I love that these are made in a traditional, handmade way but the expression on their faces seem contemporary. Of the three my favorite is the one in the bottom left corner, with his leg made of tears and the tree stump to his side. Seeing stuff like this it makes me want to get back into figure sculpture.
