I was listening to KPCC on the way home from work tonight and heard a really great story about doing what really makes you happy. Shannon Hayes grew up on a small farm in the Appalachian mountains in New York. When she was about 8 she decided that she never wanted to leave the farm, but things change and she ended up studying at Cornell. She not only got a Masters degree but a PhD in sustainable agriculture. But once she was done she was offered little to no job opportunities and began to realize that she never wanted a “real job.” So instead of trying to live a traditional life with a regular job she and her husband decided to take a risk and become farmers.
I thought this was a really inspiring story to hear, hopefully you feel the same.
