The artworks of South Carolina-born artist Danna Ray aim to explore “the inherent transience and connectedness of all things.” Her paintings zero in on moments and tiny emotional fragments that would otherwise pass unnoticed and with little fanfare. In particular, Ray’s textured paintwork gestures towards ephemerality and environmental change. Alluding to woodland and botanical motifs, she examines the traces left by humans in nature. Her work is not only thought-provoking, but lush in colour and stunning in execution.
