Dieter Rams’ Principles of Good Design & His Work at Vitsœ

Cool Hunting recently sat down with Mark Adams, the managing director of Vitsœ and spoke about Dieiter Rams work with the company. Specifically he talks about the Vitsœ Shelving System that Rams created in 1960. The system is perfect because it allows you to feature and support the things you own rather than stand out garishly. I’m planning on moving early next year and all I can think of is how amazing a wall of this would look in my apartment. There are lots of great product shots in the video and bit of Rams’ Principles of Good Design with examples of how they were applied to certain products.

The only problem about Vitsoe is that they are so hung up on themsleves that they forgot to look how people can acquire their products. Their distribution in North America sucks balls… I don’t know who came up with that scheme but they should be fired or have their mba revoked. Good luck getting your shelves. No wonder they are expensive, there is about 17 middleman…
