Sara Nicely

September 10, 2010 - By Danica van de Velde - Category: Design & Illustration

It was her identity for the Flour Pot Bakery that initially attracted me to the work of San Francisco-based graphic designer and illustrator Sara Nicely. Transposing the bakery’s menu onto their takeaway baguette bag in lovely and simple hand-drawn type is not only functional, but also looks splendid. This clever and eye-catching approach to design runs through everything featured in Nicely’s portfolio and her typographic work, in particular, uses space and shape beautifully. I can’t help but think that I might have enjoyed reading Sophie’s World a bit more in high school if it’s pages had been enclosed in Nicely’s attractive cover.

If you've got something to say, keep it positive.
  1. Love it love it love. Speaks to my affinit for type and eats. In all honesty a bread bag like that wouldn’t be discarded in my home, I would probably hang it up on the wall. Such a practical and aesthetic idea.

  2. @ cravenmaven Yes! I would consider framing it as well. How good would it look on a kitchen wall?!
