Awesome Photos of Vintage Interiors
August 25, 2010 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Architecture & Photography

I came across a bunch of old photos of interiors from the past and thought I should share this ramshackle collection. The images are rather random, a mixture of malls, metro stops and restaurants but they’re all rather over the top, sci-fi-esque and outright beautiful. I’m all for simplicity but there’s something about the over-the-top colors and mirrors and lighting that really give these some character. It might also be the way the photos were taken, but no matter what these are pretty fun to look at.
Check under the cut for more.

If you've got something to say, keep it positive.Heheh oh Bobby I can assure you that at the very least, LaSalle Métro (2nd photo) and the Yorkdale Station (3rd photo) really do/did look that wonderful haha. The neon lights used to light up as subways passed by, but the Transit Commission here in Toronto couldn’t afford to maintain it so it has since been removed. LaSalle (and many other stations in Montréal) do look awesome as hell though. The entire system seems trapped in the 60s/70s, as if immune to the cultural changes going on above the surface.
DC’s subway hasn’t changed a bit (2nd photo from the bottom), it’s still delightfully 70′s with the coffered vault ceilings, uplighting, and lots of Brutalist concrete detailing.
Awesome. Some of these look like unused sets from Logan’s Run.
