Charles Sandison

Based in Finland, Scottish-born artist Charles Sandison produces computer-generated art that is projected onto the exterior façades of buildings, flows along gallery floors and swirls up the walls and over the ceilings of the spaces in which it appears. If you look closely at the phantasmagoria of his artworks, you will see that the abstract shapes that fluidly move across the various architectural surfaces are, in fact, text. Building a complex constellation of language, Sandison’s installations provoke the viewer to disentangle some sense of meaning embedded within the web of words and symbols, and to interact and explore a kinetic space. Putting words aside, his language art is amazing to behold.

I definitely recommend taking a look at this short clip of The River, a recent installation by Sandison exhibited at the Musée du Quai Branly.
