In October of 2006 brothers Edward and Alfie Maddison started a small studio in Ely, Cambridgshire, England called Maddison Graphic and since then have been creating some really nice branding. My favorite project of theirs is the identity work for Zoe Williams, a British columnist and journalist. Taking her profession as their inspiration they’ve created a stylized ‘Z’ and ‘W’ out of punctuation marks which turned out extremely well. I like that it’s no completely obvious right away what the symbols are supposed to be but once you’ve seen her name I’m sure the idea would become clear. The ‘ZW’ combined with the bright blue, orange and yellow stationary really makes this a fun identity system.
