Ryohei Yanagihara
July 13, 2010 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Books & Design & Illustration

Ryohei Yanagihara is a Japanese illustrator and animator who founds success working with Suntory Whiskey back in the 50′s (I think). He also created a great character called Uncle Tory which became a symbol of the company that was popular at the time. The images above though are several book covers he did in the 60′s and 70′s. I love the feeling of these books, so colorful and fun. I would absolutely buy a book with covers like these. Can anyone tell me the names of the books? I’m afraid my Japanese is non-existent.

If you've got something to say, keep it positive.Hello,
First, all my apologies for my english. I’m not very confident with it.
I guess the title of the first is “uma ha doyoubi ni aozameru”, something like “the horse is become pale in saturday”. But it’s a translation without precaution and i guess an expression.
You still find it in amazon japan (amazon.co.jp)here :
http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E9%A6%AC%E3%81%AF%E5%9C%9F%E6%9B%9C%E3%81%AB%E8%92%BC%E3%81%96%E3%82%81%E3%82%8B-%E9%9B%86%E8%8B%B1%E7%A4%BE%E6%96%87%E5%BA%AB-79-%E7%AD%92%E4%BA%95-%E5%BA%B7%E9%9A%86/dp/4087501590
The second is “sengoku jidai” – time of sengoku from ???? but i haven’t found it with this cover.
The third is “gendai yarou nyumon”, something like the guide of the modern bastard beguiner. It seems to be on amazon but there is no picture of the cover.
The last is “tenka no bijo”, “the beauties of this world”. I didn’ find the cover.
