I know yesterday was the 4th of July but I really wanted to do an American themed mix to celebrate the occasion. I suppose this mix seems a bit half ass since honestly all I did was search for songs with the word “America” in them but it’s the way they’re mixed and the ordering that really makes this mix kinda’ cool. I guess you’ll be the judge of it but I happen to think this mix turned out pretty damn well.

Please take a listen and let me know what you think of the outcome.

Here’s this week’s tracklist:
American Hearts by A.A. Bondy
Look Inside America by Blur
Surf Wax America by Weezer
Detouring America With Horns by Yo La Tengo
American Wife by Rilo Kiley
America’s Boy by Broadcast
America by M83
Born in the U.S.A. (with Concern) by Casiotone for the Painfully Alone
One More American Song by The Duke & The King
Ashes of American Flags by Wilco
Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron & Wine

  3. Love the inclusion of Casiotone/Concern’s version of “Born in the USA” and I listened to it this weekend in honor of the 4th too! I also love their version of “Streets of Philadelphia” and the Casiotone cover of “Graceland” off the Advance Base Battery Life album.

  5. I love that Iron & Wine song so much. But my favorite 4th of July-esque song is definitely Sufjan Stevens singing the Star Spangled Banner.
