Poster For The Movie ‘The Social Network’

June 21, 2010 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Design & Films

The first poster for the upcoming Facebook inspired movie The Social Network was released last week and it’s definitely got me interested. The film is directed by Fight Club director David Fincher and is based upon the book The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding Of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal which profiles the rise of Mark Zuckerberg and his Facebook empire. The movie will star Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg (who I’ve loved since The Squid and The Whale, and was great in Zombieland) as well as Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker.

The poster itself is great, though, especially the photograph itself. Supposedly the movie is going to be pretty funny, so hopefully it’s a dark comedy if anything. I also love the details of having the Facebook interface and the scroll bar. Extremely clever and I’m totally excited to see more.

  4. @John – Facebook has nothing to do with this movie. This is about the dirty secrets of Facebook’s rise to power.

  5. I’m wondering who the core demographic to the film are. Obviously facebook users, but it will be interesting to see how its played. I’m personally hoping for something along the lines of Pirates of Silicon Valley, rather than something like 21.

  6. @Matthew – I’m seeing it for Fincher and Eisenberg. David Fincher is one of my absolute favorite directors, plus the screenplay was written by Aaron Sorkin who also did The West Wing, among other things. Nothing but talented people involved.

  7. I love this poster as well. As soon as I saw it, it just fit the style that they seem to be after.

Fincher is the king. He makes such incredible films.

Zodiac is the best film I’ve ever seen, and I can’t wait to see this.

  14. Interesting. It reminds me of the cover of the book “American Psycho” which I suppose is an interesting comparison. I want to see the movie. I think it IS going to be sort of a dark comedy. Eisenberg will be great regardless.
