Eight from Etsy: Bike Edition
May 26, 2010 - By Danica van de Velde - Category: Accessories & Clothing & Illustration & PhotographyDid you know that if you enter the keyword “bicycle” into an Etsy search that you will receive over 200 pages of results? In amongst slogans informing shoppers that “bike is the new black”, that you should “keep calm and ride on” and that, ahem, you should “put the fun between your legs” is a super collection of bicycle-themed wares. I have trawled through the huge selection like a crazy scavenger to pick out what I believe is the top eight. I hope you like them.
Further and better particulars can be found after the jump.
The Comings and Goings of Bicycles (that’s life) - Sophie Blackall
A print of an original illustration from Blackall’s Missed Connections project in which she brings to life the “funny, sad, beautiful, hopeful, hopeless, poetic posts on Missed Connections websites.”
La Bicyclette Tote – La Lune Designs
This is the first of three tote bags that I feature in this post (and yes, I love tote bags). With a little black bicycle painted on cream linen, this tote is simultaneously sweet and chic.
Bicycle Mini Cards (set of 10) – Pinkie’s Palace
10 miniature (2 inches x 2 inches) cards printed with a penny farthing image for those who are nostalgic at heart.
La Poule Blanche print – Honey Tree Photography
To be honest, I just want to be in this photograph. It looks like that bicycle isn’t chained to anything…
Let’s Ride! tote bag – Gemma Correll
In the company of a plethora of wedding invitation designs featuring tandem bicycles is this cute and cheeky tote from illustration extraordinaire Gemma Correll. Let’s Ride, indeed!
F.CK you and your Prius tote bag – dustDesign Co.
Naughty word alert! I picked this tote for all of the hardcore cyclists out there.
In our Hearts and on our Minds print – Broken Heart Social Club
This print was originally a poster made to honour hit and run victims in Minneapolis and to encourage more cyclists to wear helmets. A beautiful image for a sad context.
The Ride and the Fall two-pack t-shirt – TIMBER! designs
While the length of my hair would certainly not rival the length of the beard on the dandy above, my experiences on bicycles have predominantly concluded in the same manner. Oh dear.

If you've got something to say, keep it positive.Yes! Bikes are totally the new black. Love that “F you and your Prius” bag.
June is Bike Month. Get on it.
I have a draft working in Gemma’s work too, probably I’ll publish it at the end of the week, she is so cool. I’ll totally love the last tee, so funny, great work Danica!
I have the Gemma Correll tote bag and it is totally awesome. Gemma is one of my fave illustrators & she always puts her packages/orders together with great care. Highly recommended!

The “bikefactory” is a well known name now in holland, this amsterdam based bike-store makes their own bikes and can make all the adjustments you want (it comes with a price tag)
