Staying at The Mercer
May 14, 2010 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Design & Kitsune Noir

Currently I’m sitting in my room at The Mercer writing this and I feel amazingly lucky. To be completely honest I was given the room to stay at in The Mercer while I was out here for the ICFF, and it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. It’s still amazing to me that I created this blog over 3 years ago and that I’m getting these amazing opportunities like staying in a crazy hotel like this. If someone told me 3 years ago that I’d be sitting here I would have told them they were nuts.
Anyhow, I’ve posted some photos of my room and the lobby of the hotel. And to be clear, I’m in no way obligated to do say or write any of this, I just really wanted to share this with you because I think it’s so rad. So far everyone has been amazingly courteous, their bar and bar staff were extremely helpful and the room is stupid amazing. I have doors in my bedroom area that open to my two person bathtub… so ridiculous.
This is just the first in series of NY posts I’ll be doing. There are a ton of great little places to check out around here so I’ll be updating over the weekend as well. There will also be some posts while I’m at ICFF so there’s going to be lots of fun stuff to check out. Sorry if this posts come off like bragging, but this is currently where my life is and I like sharing.
Bobby

If you've got something to say, keep it positive.Congrats. I really like the photos. I know it’s not the point of this post but you did a good job there.
Wow, that’s a nice hotel, if someday I have the opportunity to go to NYC I’ll be more than happy to stay there. About the rest, I think this post doesn’t sound like bragging at all, just thankful
Hey Bobby I’m just a random reader of your blog, but I share your excitement, and I don’t think it’s bragging!
I’m enjoying all your posts, the bright spots of the internet sometimes :)
Hey Bobby,
Enjoy the things offered to you. You’ve worked hard for it the past 3 years.
Do also check the club below the hotel too, Submercer. It’s a small place, but really great to have some late night drinks.
Enjoy!
you should come visit all of us illustrators in the pencil factory, brooklyn…
@James – Yeah, Jennifer already invited me out, so I think I might vist on Monday. It’ll be fun to see you again sir!
Wow I am so happy for you, this is what happens when you live authentically, do what you love and do it with passion.
Life rewards you with wonderful experiences. I think you should seriousely consider putting some of your posts into a book.
Your design sensibility is exquisite and since I discovered your blog in January this year its become de rigueur and I tell everyone in I know in Italy about you, and they are blown away too.
Sorry if this sounds too saccharine but you have enriched my life in an immesurable way.
