Kitsune Noir On An iPad
April 3, 2010 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Apple & Kitsune Noir
My apologies for not posting yesterday (Friday), I kind of took the day to clean my apartment and plan some details for an upcoming event with my friends at Poketo. And as it turns out I can’t sleep right now, so here I am at 2 AM posting everything I had plotted.
My buddy Hamish sent me this image of Kitsune Noir on an iPad, you see, he’s a writer over at Vanity Fair, so he has perks like getting an iPad early. I must say that it looks really damn good on that big, juicy screen, though I’m still not 100% sure if I’m going to get one right away…

If you've got something to say, keep it positive.i work at an apple store and i already set some of the dwp wallpapers as the backgrounds on a few. they look great. especially the toro y moi .
I would say I’d like to get an iPad myself but the fact that Apple hasn’t at least TRIED to implement flash into it was a real downer. Especially since most sites these days are completely flash based.
Rumors are, Apple is finally thinking about Flash for their products because sales have been dying (only a little). So, just wait i guess!
@Kayla – I don’t know where you get your information but you’re wrong on both fronts.
Apple’s sales are higher then they’ve ever been, you can find their annual reports online. As for Flash, it’s a huge processor and battery drain and will never be on an iPhone or iPad, so you’re going to have quite a wait ahead of you…
I was thinking of waiting till a few generations have come out and they have worked out the bugs added in a few extras and then i’ll get one. delaying the instant gratification of getting something new and shiny, and waiting till I can get something new, shiny and won’t piss me off….. Im such a consumerist.
I like how it’s a photo of an iPad, in front of an iMac keyboard, taken with an iPhone

Congrats! It looks good. I am not really convinced by the proportions of the iPad, which looks a bit squat though. So far, Apple had done good (if a bit bland and generic) designs with their iPod & iPhone lines, but this is a wee bit disappointing.
I shall probably never have the money to buy the iPad, anyhow!

Bobby, I’ve followed this blog for a long time but your attitude of ‘anyone who doesnt like the iPad is obviously an idiot’ is really very off putting.
@Holly – If that’s what you assume I can’t change that. But I haven’t bought an iPad cuz’ I want to try it myself, so clearly that’s not how I feel.
@ Kayla
This may have been true years ago, but I see very few flash based sites these days. Most web designers have come to their senses and abandoned them. Still a let down though, since most video sites use flash.

This looks nice. Still not for me though. Maybe when there is some sort of app that turns it into a tablet you can use with your desktop/laptop. That would win me over.
About the flash misery: just a couple of days ago I’ve started to think about to convert some funny flash websites to pure HTML5+CSS3 sites – it’s not impossible, even with the shiny interfaces and motion design – as far as we assume that browsers are capable for this – I know, it’s a huge problem, that major browsers does not implement a lot of specs, YET. But I think that we will see a decrementing count of pure flash pages. Youtube and Flash Video will remain for some time (although HTML5 tag might be a competitor) – I give not more than 5 years for flash based pages. That’s just an opinon, but if you look at new Safari releases (these implements a lot of HTML5 and CSS3 rules and ideas) Apple is on the same opinion.
Bobby, so if I’m not an Apple fanboy, and post a negative comment regarding the iPad, you’ll take my comment down?
Very lame.
@Dale – The reason I deleted your comment is because your comment didn’t add anything of value to the discussion. All you said was the you didn’t understand why anyone would buy it, and that’s not valuable in my opinion. Plus, it’s my blog, not an open forum, so I make the rules.
All I ask is that if you don’t agree, make a valid and well thought response. It has nothing to do with being an Apple fanboy, which is yet another stupid stereotype like hipsters.
Correct, that’s what I said. My hopes were that someone, possibly a fellow designer, could inform me of some value in it. I did not harshly criticize the product.
I’d have to agree with Holly’s comment above now. Well done.
