Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP

It always seems like artsy video games are a rare commodity to come by. I’m talking about games like Katamari Damacy, Parappa the Rapper or Ico, these kind of games that rely upon a beautiful aesthetic and simple controls to make a game that’s pure enjoyment.

So when I saw this preview of the upcoming Superbrothers game I got pretty excited. Here you have one guy, Craig Adams, who’s taken his unique visual style and crafted an old school styled game called Sword & Sworcery. the game seems rather simple, you explore a beautiful world and kill the bad guys. But it’s the visual style of the world that really makes it seem special. As I was writing this I came across this great “article”, I guess you could call it, that Mr. Adams wrote which is simply titled, Less Talk More Rock. I highly suggest reading it as well.

This is wonderful. And the music, beautifully rendered. This what i love: practical and poetic. It’s that kind of game that makes you want to pee, because of the waterfall sound design. ahhhhhh….

And also worth noting, the game pace and ease of movements. I remember playing SNES with my ass out of the couch because i wanted to press the A button so f***** hard… And this. I bet it would make me relax in sunny day laying down on my favourite beach… ahhhhhh… I gotta pee again… -.-

I can’t believe I watched the videos all the way through. Even when not playing it the game is really cool.

Reminds me of another game called Cave Story, similar aesthetics and also a great soundtrack that really brings out the mood of the scenes.

Oh lordy, they have created a thing of beauty here. I am humid with anticipation and eager to buy whatever platform this is going to be out on.
