Kitsune Noir Mixcast / No.023
January 29, 2010 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Kitsune Noir Mixcast

It’s Friday, it’s almost the weekend, and here’s a delicious Mixcast to wash your cares away. This week’s Mixcast is based around the theme of women’s names. I think most rock stars end up going through break ups or fall desperately in love so women’s names tend to be quite prevalent in music. Not that there are only male singers on this album.
For the album artwork I hunted through my old National Geographic’s and found as many odd images as I could, putting together a diverse collage of woman-ness. The back is my favorite though and I didn’t have to do anything to it, that’s exactly how it was.
Here’s this week’s tracklist:
Jolene by Cake
Griselda by Yo La Tengo
Vanessa From Queens by Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks
Ashley by The Dodos
Tila and I by Harlem
Dear Jennifer by The Clientele
Selfish Jean by Travis
Oh Christine by The Cave Singers
Pretty Mary K by Elliott Smith
Carey by Joni Mitchell
Savannah Smiles by Okkervil River
Anna by Taken by Trees
Shirin by Jens Lekman
Ada by The National
Goodnight Laura by Spoon

I love the tracks.
Thank you.
Thanks!
Nice Tracklist!… Have a nice weekend, too!
Love your album art!!
Can’t wait to get to work and listen up.
tanx!
Amazing mix, amazing cover. Where do you find pictures like that?!
Oh no, you didn’t, I’ve been working on a playlist with exact this theme for the last couple of weeks, great job both tracklist and artwork
Hey! I’ve also been collecting tracks with names as titles (in general, not just women’s) for a mixtape. There’s quite a lot to pick from, huh?
Great!! Well… you missed Sheila by Atlas Sound!
outstanding artwork!
real good tracks
this girls theme is one of the best! bravo!
Victor is quite right by the way.
@Victor & Marion – I had it in my list but I didn’t think it fit. Plus I put Atlas Sound on everything I do (or so I feel) so I wanted to mix it up a little : )
Downloading this for sure.
Love the vintage feel of the album artwork.
Great artwork… of course, “Carey” refers to a guy :-) but it’s still a great song.
@Yachris – Hahahaha… whoops, I had no idea! #fail
AHH this is my favorite cover yet, where did you find the photo of the woman with the gun?
What you do is sublime! Tnx! Is there a corporate machine this?
Behind this I meant..
great choices, i love CAKE. they’re so under appreciated. jolene is my favorite track off that first album.
@Vincent – Nope, it’s just songs that I love, no influence from anyone.
I like the mix. I was also looking for the picture with the woman and the gun. Where did you find it?
Ooh! I’ve just finished a uni project to make a themed CD and packaging, I wish I’d seen this beforehand! I went for chemical elements in the end…
Thanks again Bobby for another wonderful compilation.
You have honestly changed the way I listen to music nowadays!
In my version of iTunes 9.0.2 something goes wrong with your artwork however. The artwork of Mixcast no.15 is shown instead of No.23…
Had this with earlier mixes too.
Are you familiar with this?
I forget to say this is happening with every mixcast, not with the mixtapes, funny eh?
fantastic covers. the back is priceless. could only happen in National Geographic. good job bob!
Wonderful mixcast, as usual! And the photo is also great, where do you find it? Who is the photographer?
Thanks from Madrid!
the mixcast this week was especially amazing, thank you!
