The Desktop Wallpaper Project featuring Chad Kouri
January 6, 2010 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: The Desktop Wallpaper Project

Good morning, I hope you’re having a nice Wednesday so far. This week’s wallpaper is pretty rad, we’re talking like cutting edge desktop wallpaper technology (insert bad 80′s theme song). This week’s wallpaper comes from the extremely talented Chad Kouri. Chad is a Chicago based artist who works with a lot of collage but also does a bunch of great hand-drawn fonts as well. He also has a solo exhibit opening up this Friday at the Rotofugi Gallery in Chicago from 7 to 10PM, so if you’re in the area be sure to stop by.
Now as I was saying, revolutionary desktop wallpaper technology. What Chad’s done is created sets of wallpapers that come in three colors. With these three colors you can have your computer change your wallpaper to a different color every minute or hour or so. So slowly throughout the day your wallpaper changes color, do you get it?
The links will have you download ZIP files instead of JPGs and I promise they’re virus free, I created them myself. I know you can do this if you’re on a Mac, simply go to System Preferences > Desktop and then choose the folder you downloaded. Below the images there’s a box that says “Change Picture.” Click that and then set the time to whatever you like best. I think you can do this on Windows 7 as well, but I can’t promise anything. If you’re totally lost feel free to leave a comment and I’ll try to help, but honestly this isn’t very hard.
I hope you enjoy the wallpaper and if you’re in Chicago stop by Chad’s show and say hi!
Bobby

If you've got something to say, keep it positive.Hello bobby. I really appreciate your work on this blog, and i always come here. I would like to put a link on my blog and talk about some of your mixcasts and mixtapes. May i?
Morning, Bobby. Just wanted to mention that the link to the 1680×1050 wallpaper is broken.
HELLS YEAH. That is all I have to say about this!
CHAD is a righteous bro! Thanks for posting his jams
This is so simple–but it’s totally rad.
My 1680X1050 files worked fine. Try it again or download the 1920 and scale it down.
Fugyeahman! Chad is a rad dude, amazing idea here too. Give the people some options and watch the magic happen. Chad’s work is fantastic! Way to go Bobby and Chad!
Dear Chad. I love you, your face and your work. See you Friday.

Hi Bobby, viewing this on your mobile site and the zips don’t work via iPhone. I know I could manually do it but -yawn- it’s like 830am, 19 degrees out and I just don’t wanna. Oh well. Thx for steady stream of beautiful wallpapers. Cheers amigo!
@Melvin – You can’t open zip files on the iPhone, you need to do it from your computer.
Hi Bobby, Just wanted to let you know the zip file for 1900×1200 is either damaged or corrupted. But I downloaded the next size down and managed with that. By the way, I don’t know if you’ve seen the video Quick Canal by Atlas Sound with Lætitia Sadier. If you haven’t check it out. I think you might dig it. http://4ad.com/news/logos-released-t/ xx, Mj :-)
@MartinJesse – I just downloaded the file without a problem, you should give it another try. And I’ll be sure to check out the Atlas Sound video as well, thanks for the heads up!
No chance you can do this on vista I guess?

I love this wallpaper.
I have it on my work laptop to motivate me not to spend to long surfing the internet when I should be working!
If you are using Windows Vista/7 you can stick this desktop gadget over the top of the clock to give the live time http://bit.ly/c3mcjL
[...] Post Family member Chad Kouri’s collage wallpaper stands out particularly because it’s a series of three different images on a timer so they fade in and out from each other. Plus, the friendly reminder to get off The Internets and get yourself to work is funny too. Download wallpaper here. [...]
