Michael Carney

December 3, 2009 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Art & Design & Illustration

While checking out that brass kunckles holiday card guy a few posts earlier I came across the work of Michael Carney, the guy who’s single-handedly responsible for nearly all of The Black Keys cover artwork. I remember seeing the artwork to their newest album Attack & Release and wondering who did it because I thought it was so great, so it’s interesting to know that it’s been the same guy working with them all along. I really enjoy his painterly technique and his font creation/choices. He’s got a good eye and I an definitely see why they want him for all of their covers.

If you've got something to say, keep it positive.
  1. I have a suspicion that perhaps Michael Carney is in some way related to the drummer of the group, Patrick Carney. Surely it can’t be a coincidence that they have the same last name?

  2. They are husmands. They were married pre-prop 8 in California.
