#musicmonday

November 16, 2009 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: #musicmonday

Hello. It’s Monday again, though it’s kind of nice here in LA, it’s like 77º right now. Sadly my apartment is still freezing and I’m wearing my $5 Marc by Marc Jacobs fingerless gloves while I write this. Anyhow, things changed a bit last week. I was listening to Embryonic by Flaming Lips a ton last week, that album is just a crazy mess of a masterpiece. Final Fantasy was also listened to a ton, starting with Has A Good Home, making my through He Poos Clouds and finishing off with some Spectrum, 14ht Century. You’ve probably heard of everyone on this weeks list, but these are some of my regular faves.

Got anything new and fun?
And as always, you can add me on Last.fm if you’re so inclined.

Bobby

If you've got something to say, keep it positive.
  1. There’s been a lot of new stuff this week on my list:

    - Bear in Heaven – Beast rest forth mouth
    - Stereophonics – Keep calm and carry on
    - Magnolia Electric Co. – Josephine
    - Flyleaf – Memento mori
    - Gifts From Enola – From phatoms
    - Hush Arbors – Yankee reality
    - Kings of Convenience – Declare of dependence
    - Morrisey – Years of refusal (still listening after 10 months of its release)
    - Them Crooked Vultures – Them Crooked Vultures
    - Wild Honey – Epic handshakes and a bear hug (a spanish band very similar to Karen O & The Kids)
    - Hercules and Love Affair – Hercules and Love Affair (so 2008 but still amazing stuff, especially Antony Hegarty)

About Last.fm , I have an account but for some reason I prefer Moof, I dunno why, probably the video feature that kick ass!! BTW, Have you seen the Amazon Editors’ best albums of 2009? Let me know what you think about it, I don’t agree with that list, but that’s normal with that kind of lists anyway.

  2. Where’d you get Marc gloves for $5?

  3. @Chri$ – They’re Marc by Marc Jacobs so they were super cheap-o. They’re convertible even, you can make them into mittens!

  4. Hey bobby, I watched final fantasy play in London a few months ago, Owen Pallett supported my favorite musician Patrick Wolf and I was really impressed. If you haven’t already checked Patrick out you definitely should, I think you would really enjoy his music.

  5. This past week I discovered the following:

Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeros (think Polyphonic Spree meets Elvis Perkins meets I’m From Barcelona)

The Civil Wars “Poison & Wine”

    Ingrid Michaelson’s “Everybody”

  6. Oh my GOSH
SAW FINAL FANTASY ON FRIDAY. Owen is absolutely amazing. He opened for the Mountain Goats who were also fantastic.

    Fav tracks/bands this week:

    “Blood” – The Middle East
    > Absolutely incredible song. I’ve been playing it every morning as I’m getting ready to brave the cold ride to class
    “You Cried Me” – Jookabox
    > Pure, unadulterated happiness! I wish I could bottle this song up and keep it on my windowsill to catch the setting sun’s rays. Ahhhh.
    “Everybody Come Outside” – Pomegranates
    > Such a fun song! Very, very uplifting.
“I Feel Like Going Home (Yo La Tengo Cover)” – Bon Iver
    > Bone Iver (well, Justin Vernon really) is amazing. Yo La Tengo is amazing. This combination was meant to be.
