Inspired by Birds & Beethoven Visualized

I spotted both of these videos over on Buzzfeed and thought they’d make one nice, unified post instead of two separate ones. The top video is from a composer named Jarbas Agnelli, who saw a photo in the newspaper of some birds sitting on power lines and translated their positions into notes on a scale. It’s a brilliant idea that really shows the creativity of some people. I love that he overlays the notes over the birds so you can see what he did.

The second video is a visualization of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, each colored bar representing a different instrument. Yet again, a really simple idea, but I find it really exciting to be able to see exactly what instrument is playing at a certain moment. It also kind of reminds me of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. If extra-terrestrials come visit us, we should definitely give his guy call.
