Time-lapse Video of the Los Angeles Wildfire

The fires here North of Los Angeles are still raging, it’s starting to look a lot like Mount Doom, in fact. The other day Matt mentioned that it would be cool to see a time-lapse video of the smoke from the fires. As crazy scary and horrible as the fires are, watching the smoke can be pretty beautiful and amazing. The video is pretty surreal, I never really knew how smoke reacted on such a large scale.

Update: +KN reader Emily just sent me this video by Brandon Riza, which is quite terrifying.

Update 2: And here’s another video showing the fire as it burns at night.

That was a pretty amazing video. Fire is such a crazy thing. I burned some wood this weekend just to get rid of it and was amazed at how you can have wood, catch it on fire, and then have nothing. It just floats away. Powerful and dangerous.
