Original Penguin Holiday Collection

August 27, 2009 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Clothing

Original Penguin
has released a new set of images of their Holiday 2009 collection which is designed by Ann Doty Payne, penguin’s creative director. This is her first collection she’s designed, usually taking care of things like advertising and store design. I have to say that she did a pretty remarkable job. I’m totally loving that peacoat/half trench with it’s military profile and thick lining. There’s also that sweet looking zip cardigan which you should totally get if you want to write a novel this winter. My other favorite piece is that bag, which looks like a perfect tote/carry all that would get you through the most blustery of winters.

Is Penguin gonna start going the J. Crew route?

  1. wow! it certainly seems like they’re going the j.crew route. i wonder if this is sustainable. so many other companies are designing with this aesthetic in mind i wonder if they can compete.

  2. That jacket is awesome. Hopefully they bring that look of jcrew without that jcrew price!

  3. Looking good. Penguin usually gets just a “meh”, but this looks like a very promising start. Also, to Tony, I’m not sure how much cheaper than J Crew it can get… I guess there’s always forced child / slave labor if we need to get that price down juuussst a bit more…

  4. I remember the LA garment factory for j crew a while back being heavily cited by the u.s. Deparment of labor for not being a registered manufcturer in the state of CA in order to dodge health and wage regulations, where the hourly wage was 2.00 bucks.
