Jon Klassen

April 10, 2009 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Art & Design & Illustration

Jon Klassen is a Los Angeles based illustrator who in my opinion, is eff’ing amazing. His style is filled with all kinds of great shapes and patterns, and while it has a simplicity to it, his pieces still feel full of depth. He also has uses a really muted color palette for his work which really helps accentuate the mood of his work.

See more of his work at his site, Burst of Beaden, and read a nice interview with him over on Illustrationmundo.

If you've got something to say, keep it positive.
  1. I agree, good stuff.

  2. I like it. His use of simple shapes and lines reminds me of one of my favorite design books, Molly Bang’s Picture This.

I’m not a designer, but I appreciate design and I love that book. It’s so simple and so eye-opening. It made me look at images in a new way. I teach, and I’ve have used Picture This (along with Robin Williams’ Non-Designers Design Book) to teach the basics of design to PR students.

  3. Awesome stuff. This would look great on my walls. Do you know if it’s available anywhere or through the artist? Good find.
