Apple Starts Exploring 3D Desktops

This is just nuts. The image above is from a patent that Apple submitted that explores the ideas of three dimensional desktops… like a real fake computer desktop. I highly highly doubt this will happen any time soon, but if anyone can take a good crack at this kinda thing it would be Apple. For right now the idea seems like a big cardboard box, which isn’t really that exciting, but ideas have to start somewhere. The fact that they’re even tossing this idea around is thrilling to me.

This has nothing to do with virtual desktop.

taking the desktop to 3D seems an exciting idea, but then on the otherhand sticking with the ‘carboard box’ defining of 3D does bring it down a bit yes, there might be lots more interesting solutions.
looking forward to what’ll become of it :)
