Souvenir de Chine by Körner Union

December 11, 2008 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Video

Sorry to post two videos in a row, a personal pet peeve, but this video is so weird and wonderful I have to. It was created by the Swiss group Körner Union, and features a ton of mirrors and lots of fuzzy and feathered little friends. The idea is simple, set up two mirros at an angle, throw a bunch of animals in it, tape it from above so it looks like a kaelidescope, and voila! Instant awesome art.

My favorite part comes in around the 2 minute mark when they throw in the parakeets, which in turn makes the mice scramble like crazy. A very random video, but beautiful and creative nonetheless.

  2. Really Impressive.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if they threw a “Kitsune Noir” in there. :)

  6. @schoked: That’s stupid. Does it look like any of them were hurt? No. The birds were thrown in the air 6 feet at most, they have wings, they weren’t being mistreated.

I work for a company that works to help and protect animals. If I thought that this was in any way cruel I would never have posted this.

I would be more then happy to be thrown 6 feet in the air, and I don’t know where you’re getting this wet floor shit, but you gotta get over it.

    Glad you like the blog.

  7. Incredible idea & execution! Very thought provoking about how a simple series of events can reveal a pattern when observed from multiple vantage points. Great Find!
