Foldable Greenhouse by Daniel Schipper

Living in an apartment in the city you don’t get to garden much, something I really wish I could do more of. Slowly though, more and more designers are catching onto this fact and are doing something about it. Take for example Daniel Shipper’s foldable greenhouse, a “frameless folding construction made of different components of recyclable plastic.” So not only is it completely simple and easy to set up, but it’s also made from recycled materials and it has an awesome shape to it as well. The container appears to be about 3 feet wide, to give you an idea of the scale of it.

I think it’s a wonderful idea, especially with the economy here in the U.S. getting so bad, pretty soon we’ll all be growing our foods… which sounds like fun to me.

Well, I must say that I often find myself on the fence when it comes to the deepening flood of ecologically-minded wares–although, may I admit that I usually find myself unable to resist the aforementioned commodities influenced by an encouraging growth of respect for this world’s condition and current interest shift to a agricultural, more rural lifestyle, whether by choice (a simple urban interest in the simple, patient ways of country life) or by force (the increasing price for anything palatable, especially the organic, all natural, etc. this-or-thats).
I also can’t help but consider the fact that, on numerous accounts, these nature oriented conceptions are a bit insincere.

But, this! This little trinket is purposeful and too wonderfully designed to consider negatively in even the very slightest possible manner.
