I think the only reason anyone could perceive them as a “boring” live act is because they seem to be able to recreate the studio versions with technical perfection if they feel like it. But sometimes they change it up. Search youtube for some acoustic versions of Australia and Turn On Me that they did for Australian TV. Supposedly Mercer is working on a solo album – looking forward to it. Oh, and thanks so much for the links. I heard the Neil Young cover before, but not the rest.

I don’t know why people always talk about The Shins being a boring live act. I’ve seen them twice and was thrilled both times… The first time they were in a silly mood and cracked a lot of jokes. The second time, they just totally rocked.

I’m not the biggest Shins fan, is there a proper track-list somewhere? I only recognise 2 or 3 tracks…
