Sony Ericsson Portable Bluetooth Speaker
February 8, 2008 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Music & Technology
Sony Ericsson has released the MBS-1000, a charmingly named portable bluetooth speaker that you can sync to your phone and play music from it. So in theory it should work with any phone that has a bluetooth connection and can store music, making it a little more interesting. The swiss cheese Death Star is only about 4 inches around, so it could be handy on vacations when you’re sick of watching TV and want to listen to some music. I wonder if anyone else will copy this sort of idea or if it’s going to go the way of that silly stereo Apple made?

If you've got something to say, keep it positive.Nice little device. Problem isn’t in these third-party Bluetooth devices, it’s Apple’s implementation of the A2DP Bluetooth spec or rather lack of. Essentially all Apple devices use a Bluetooth spec that only supports mono audio – no stereo. For most people, that’s a bit of a deal killer. That’s why you don’t see many native Bluetooth headphones for iPod/iPhone. Using the iPod/iPhone’s native Bluetooth in a headphone is like listening to the same thing on both sides. Most of the ones out there require a separate powered adapter that outputs Bluetooth over stereo.
I’ll take your word for it ;)
