Yayoi Kusama

January 2, 2008 - By Bobby Solomon - Category: Art

Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist who since her childhood has obsessed over dots. Claiming she was abused by her mother as a child, Kasuma has covered any and all surfaces with dots, turning this odd fascination into critically acclaimed works of art. While I’m not completely sold on how “artistic” her projects are, they certainly are beautiful to look at. Currently she lives in a mental hospital, her own choice, leaving rarely to visit her studio or special events.

Coming up on February 17th she’ll be a part of the Japanese art celebration at The Kennedy Center. Her show is titled, Dots Obsession – Day and Dots Obsession – Night.
