Last Week in Music | 10/28 – 11/04

Usually I try and post this earlier in the morning, but I just noticed that the final tally got posted. It’s weird, last weekend it was early, showing up on Sunday, but today it was late. Silly I also think my music is being fully recorded yet. I swear that I listen to more than 24 hours of music in a week, but maybe not? I can say for a fact that I’ve been listening to music since 9am this morning. And I’m going to go home and listen to music for most of the rest of the night while I work.

Anyhow! The number one most listened to artist was Coconut Records, the alias of Jason Schwartzman. The record came out in March as a digital download on iTunes, and I guess it was released as a record at the same time, though everything I’m reading online is kind of vague. I read about the album in the new issue of Nylon Guys, and was shocked that I hadn’t heard it yet.
I just want to say that it’s really great, but that’ I’m going to write separately about it very soon.

Next up was Caribou, who I’m enjoying more and more for his amazing pop sensibility. I mean, it’s kind of weird, but the songs themselves are new age pop anthems. His live album is fast becoming one of my favorites.

The rest are oldies and goodies, except for the new Saul Williams, which I keep listening to because of the wonderful production of it.
