There are people in this world who are good at nothing, there are people who are really good at a few things, and then there are amazing people like Kashiwa Sato, who happens to be a genius at everything. He’s a designer in the truest sense of the word. He’s done everything from art directing, environmental and graphic design, product design, directed commercials, advertising… you name it, the guys done it.
I recognize his work from the creative direction he did for the Uniqlo Soho Ny store he did, as well as the UT Store he did in Harajuku, which is the image above. I feel like he’s a part of this elevating presence of 40-something Japanese designers who are really starting to finally get noticed in western culture, along with Naoto Fukasawa and Masamichi Katayama.
As for his work, it’s some of the best I’ve personally ever seen. Everything he does is so detailed and seemingly perfect. I went on a ‘binge’ of sorts and grabbed a ton of photos from his site, which are all under the cut. I highly recommend everyone take a second to check out all the amazing stuff he’s created.
